A New Baggage Check-In

map_a__complete_2852

This map illustrates the airport road plan during ABC including open and closed lanes, the cell phone lot, shuttle and bus parking and disabled pick up and drop off.

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is dedicated to helping drivers steer clear of construction when they are picking up and dropping off passengers during the Airport Baggage Check-in project (ABC).

During the 22-month construction process, drivers will enter and exit the airport in the same convenient fashion from 395 and Plumb Lane/Terminal Way. The only impact of the ABC Project on drivers will be in front of the terminal where the number of lanes will be reduced to accommodate construction.

Access to the Parking Garage, Surface Lot and rental car outlets will be unchanged. For details on parking rates, go to Airport Parking Rates and Information

Parking / Cell Lot

With fewer traffic lanes available due to construction, especially along the curb in front of the terminal, drivers are encouraged to use the cell phone waiting lot when picking up passengers at the airport for the next 22 months. Located along the perimeter road just to the right of the 395-South airport entrance ramp, the cell phone waiting lot offers drivers a chance to pull off the road, save gas and wait for the person they are picking up to call them after they have retrieved their bags in Baggage Claim. A courtesy phone for airport paging or to arrange assistance for the disabled will also be available in the cell phone waiting lot.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules prohibit parking along the four lanes in front of the terminal with the exception of active loading and unloading only. The cell phone waiting lot is a convenient alternative to continually circling on the airport perimeter road while waiting to pick someone up. Extensive signage, as well as uniformed airport security specialists, will help guide drivers to the cell phone waiting lot.
